Thank you for preparing to submit a team identification photo to our database. Your photo will be used to help other teams recognize your players when they are supposed to play them, and also so that our viewers can easily see how their favorite teams are doing in our online coverage and onsite scoreboard.

Here are some tips on taking a good identification photo. Hold the camera still, and check the photo to make sure it's not blurry on your computer; don't trust the camera's own preview. Shoot in bright, indirect light, not backlit: outside on a cloudy day is great; in a tournament room against a window is not. Do not use a flash, unless you have no choice; if you do have to use it, make sure you use red-eye reduction. Shoot from slightly above your subject.

To ensure consistent photo quality, please make sure that the photo meets the following standards.

Save your file in JPEG format.
The file must be at least 640 pixels wide and 640 pixels high. (This is to give us some leeway in editing the photo, and to allow for the possibility that it will be printed.) If you only have a lower-resolution file, do not use an image editor to stretch it out; please reshoot the photo.)
The file should not be more than 8 MB in size. (We have a limited amount of disk space.)
The photo should show your two players facing the camera full-on, faces unobscured, standing side-by-side. If they will be wearing team or school T-shirts at the Championship, they should wear them for the photo. Their heads should be as close together as looks natural, so that when we crop the photo tight and square we can include their heads and shoulders and not too much more. You can take a look at our 2011 roster for examples of suitable composition.
The players should take up at least 50% of the width of the photo. (If not, when we crop the photo tight, it will be too blurry to use.)
A square centred to enclose both players' heads must lie entirely within the image. (You may notice that all of our team photos online are square; if your image is too tall and not wide enough, we won't be able to make a square photo from it.
There should not be any other people in the photo. (It may be difficult to separate one photo from a group, and we may not be able to identify the correct players.)
The image should be a recent photo.
The image should be a photograph, not a cartoon or other illustration. (The photo is not an online 'avatar', it is an identification photo.)
The image should be suitable for viewing by other teams and the general public.

Photos which do not meet all of these criteria will be rejected.
